Kenia Enriquez signs with COMBATE GLOBAL!
A champion in limbo
Although she reigned as WBC interim flyweight champion and was the number one challenger, she never got the absolute title fight. Therefore, after patiently waiting for the opportunity, she decided to act. Now, she has the backing of COMBATE GLOBAL to boost her career.
An unforgettable encounter with champion Kenia Enriquez
I remember meeting Kenia Enriquez about six years ago in Los Angeles, California, during Combate Global’s “Reinas” event with Univision and DAZN at the Galen Center. I had just left my position as regional marketing director at Creative Artists Agency to begin my journey as an independent consultant. At the time, I was a young professional immersed in the sports and entertainment industry, working with major events such as the NFL Super Bowl, the Latin Grammys, Top Rank Boxing and Combate Global. It was a time full of energy and opportunity, and that day was no exception.
I walked into the salon accompanied by Julianna Peña and saw Enriquez across the room. There she was-calm, focused and with a magnetic presence-sitting with her WBC belt over her shoulder, waiting for her makeup artist to prepare her for a photo shoot. Even among the bustle of a star-studded event, she stood out naturally. She looked focused, attractive and with that confidence that only true champions have. I remember thinking, “Wow, there’s the champion!”.
COMBATE GLOBAL is betting big
COMBATE GLOBAL CEO Campbell McLaren criticized the WBC’s inaction and praised Enriquez: “We will boost her MMA career just like we brought Amanda Serrano out of anonymity. He also made it clear that they will bet heavily on the “Mexican Queen”.
Legacy under construction
In her MMA debut on March 13, Enriquez knocked out undefeated Hayley “Bloody” Valentine twice. She went on to win by unanimous decision. On the other hand, her boxing record includes:
- WBO World Flyweight Champion (2014)
- WBC Interim Women’s Junior Flyweight Champion (2017)
- WBC Interim Flyweight Champion (2023-present)
Finally, her last boxing victory was on February 3, 2024. Then, she dominated Maria Salinas by decision. Since then, she has kept herself in shape. Now, with COMBATE GLOBAL, Kenia Enriquez is ready to write a new historical chapter.
