Fighting out of Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico, the 24-year-old Mendoza is a former amateur national champion and former National Olympics silver medalist.
The bout with Gonzalez Ibarra will be Mendoza’s first fight since August 4, 2023 when she notched a unanimous decision over Lorenz Gutierrez Barajas and, shortly thereafter, took an extended leave of absence from her boxing career to give birth to her baby daughter.
To date, all of Mendoza’s victories have come over opponents who were previously undefeated in the ring as professionals.
Also 24 years of age, the hard-hitting Gonzalez Ibarra of Monterrey is coming off a second round (2:38) TKO of Gabriela Zacarias Zampayo on February 28.
In preliminary card action, Rubi Gutierrez Salinas (7-3-1) of Saltillo, Coahuila will take on Maria De Los Angeles Sanchez (4-4) of Gómez Palacio, Durango, Mexico in a six-round junior flyweight (108 pounds/49 kilograms) affair.
The live “Queen of the Ring” show will open with a four-round contest between Eunice Campos Luna (3-1, 1 KO) of Tijuana, B.C., Mexico and Naila Rojas Gonzalez (3-3) at a catchweight of (106 pounds/48 kilograms).
AWSN debuted live women’s professional boxing on its global platform that is available in over 60 countries, on February 28 in partnership with Manny Pacquiao Promotions. The live show was headlined by undefeated rising star Shera Mae Patricio (8-0, 3 KO’s), who earned her latest victory in the squared circle.
