Juan Angel Callejas is ready for action. This talented MMA fighter steps into the Auditorio Arteaga on July 24 in Santiago de Queretaro, Queretaro, Mexico . Putting San Juan del Rio on the Map
Callejas wants the sports world to notice San Juan del Rio. He believes too many opportunities stay in the state capital. He wants to highlight his small town and inspire local youth. By stepping into the cage, he proves that big dreams are always possible.
Going into this exciting bout with three amateur fights, Callejas feels nervous but highly confident. He trusts his rigorous training. Surprisingly, he still does not know his opponent. Instead of planning a specific strategy, he focused heavily on perfecting his movements. He is fully prepared to adapt inside the octagon.
From Taekwondo to the MMA “Jaula”
His martial arts journey started very early. Callejas practiced taekwondo from age 8 to 16. Next, he explored boxing. Then, about a year and a half ago, he fully committed to Mixed Martial Arts. He now trains at Dark Combat under head coach Alejandro Luevalds.
When the incredible FLC opportunity arose, Callejas accepted instantly. He faces a tough three round battle, with each round lasting five minutes. His main goal is simply to win. He also wants to gain valuable experience for his growing professional career.
Choosing Passion Over a College Degree
The journey has demanded some huge sacrifices. While attending college, Callejas faced a really tough choice. He chose to chase his true passion. He left school to dedicate his life entirely to MMA. Today, he trains relentlessly from Monday to Thursday.
Now, his focus remains entirely on the upcoming FLC bout. Win or lose, Callejas hopes his brave journey motivates other young local athletes. He wants them to successfully conquer their wildest martial arts dreams.
