A Dream 12 Years in the Making
The event’s organizer, Álvaro Puchkairov, has spent over a decade building the sport locally. “When I started training, Muay Thai didn’t exist in Paysandú,” he said. “Now, 12 years later, we’re bringing an event of international quality.”
Sanctioned by the International Muay Thai Federation, the tournament welcomes fighters from Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay, with two international titles on the line.
Franco Perochena Fights for Glory
At just 17, Franco Perochena took up Muay Thai to escape a life headed in the wrong direction. Today, he’s a WMC Champion, Pan-American and South American titleholder, and the pride of his local gym. On Saturday, he steps into the co-main event, representing not just Paysandú, but every fighter chasing a dream.
“Muay Thai changed my life,” he said. “It gave me discipline, focus, and the chance to bring a belt home—and even travel to Thailand, the birthplace of this sport.”
