Pacquiao vs Barrios media workout
Boxing fans, brace yourselves. Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, a brand new member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame, is not hanging up his gloves just yet. Instead, he is preparing for what could be the most legendary comeback in boxing history. On Saturday, July 19, from the iconic MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Pacquiao will face WBC Welterweight World Champion Mario “El Azteca” Barrios in the main event of PBC Pay-Per-View on Prime Video. A HALL OF FAMER WITH A SCORE TO SETTLE
At 46, most boxers are already retired. But Pacquiao is not like the rest. The Filipino idol claims his fire never went out-he just needed time to recharge. “These last four years were good for my body,” Pacquiao declared during an open workout in Los Angeles. “Now I got my passion back, and it shows in my training.”
A recent Hall of Fame inductee, Pacquiao is aiming to break his own record as the oldest welterweight world champion, a title he had already achieved in 2019 by defeating Keith Thurman at the age of 40. Should he achieve it again, he would also become the first active Hall of Famer to capture another world title-a milestone as historic as it is audacious.
A FIRE-FILLED BILLBOARD TO IGNITE LAS VEGAS
The action doesn’t stop with Pacquiao vs. Barrios. The evening is loaded with must-see bouts, including:
- The long awaited rematch between Sebastian “The Infernal Tower” Fundora and Australian Tim Tszyuafter the bloodiest fight of 2024.
- A 12 round war between the Mexicans Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz and Angel Fierro, reliving their brutal February bout.
- And the return of Brandon “El Rompecorazones” Figueroa against the tough Joet Gonzalez in a 10 round featherweight battle.
PACQUIAO: “I’M STILL FAST. I STILL HAVE STRENGTH.”
From the Wild Card Boxing Club and alongside his legendary trainer Freddie Roach, Pacquiao showed himself in top form. “I feel fast, I feel strong,” he assured. “My team even asks me to take it easy in training so I can get enough rest.”
He also talked about the difficult decision to retire in 2021. “My heart and mind knew I could still fight. Now I’m back and 100% focused, no distractions. This fight is my destiny.”
WHERE TO SEE AND HOW TO GET TICKETS
The event will be available to all via Prime Video, with no Prime membership required. It will also be available on traditional television, cable, satellite and PPV.com. Tickets are available now at AXS.com-and they‘re flying!
THE FINAL CHAPTER?
Pacquiao hinted that he might have two or three more fights in his career, but for now it’s one fight at a time. July 19 could be the night Pacquiao writes another unforgettable chapter in boxing history-or hands the torch to a new generation.
Either way, it’s an event no one will want to miss.
