Toluca witnessed a massive success this Sunday, August 23. The Jorge Rodríguez Esquivel Sports Unit in San Cristóbal Huichochitlán hosted an intense local martial arts tryout. The ultimate goal? Securing a prestigious spot at the upcoming Juegos Nacionales Populares 2026. This exciting municipal filter showcased pure natural talent, heart, and dedication from all the competitors involved.
Athletes Deliver Fierce Competition
Over thirty passionate athletes arrived early, eager to give their absolute best performance. Registration officially kicked off at 7:30 AM, paving the way for very exciting matches by 9:30 AM. Competitors from both young male and female branches battled hard. The Imcufidet of Toluca meticulously organized divisions. These age groups ranged from young beginners born in 2016 to highly advanced fighters born in 2001. Everyone desperately wanted to win.
Strict Rules And Family Support
To keep the Toluca martial arts tournament highly organized, the committee established very clear rules. Athletes could only enter one specific modality: combat or forms. Nobody could participate in both categories. The combat bouts followed a strict competitive format. Fighters quickly needed to win two out of three thrilling rounds to advance.
As Fight fans and Families brought incredible community support which heavily elevated the overall competitive spirit. It successfully transformed the rigorous tryout into a true sports celebration.
The Road To National Glory
With the municipal stage finally complete, the winning athletes will now focus on the state qualifiers this September. The stakes are incredibly high for everyone. In the forms division, the athlete with the highest combined score across empty hand, short weapon, and long weapon events will advance. In the combat division, only the absolute winner of each weight class moves forward.
The final registration deadline is October 13. Ultimately, the carefully chosen State of Mexico sports delegation will proudly travel and fiercely compete on the grand national stage from November 4 to November 13 this year.
