Zoé “El Joe” Cañón heads to the GAMMA Pan American Championship 2026 after building an amateur journey that began in kickboxing and later expanded into boxing and mixed martial arts.
Cañón was 14 years old when he first stepped onto a mat. Six years later, that introduction to combat sports has taken him through several disciplines and now toward one of the biggest challenges of his young career: representing Colombia at the GAMMA Pan American Championship 2026.
The championship will take place in Chía, Cundinamarca, bringing together athletes from across the continent.
An amateur journey built across different disciplines
Zoé “El Joe” Cañón began his combat sports career in kickboxing, where he developed throughout his junior years.
He later expanded his competitive experience into boxing and mixed martial arts.
Cañón told Fajador that, after reaching adulthood, he built an undefeated 7-0 record in boxing.
He also currently reports an 8-1 amateur MMA record, with seven of those victories coming by second-round stoppage.
That multidisciplinary experience has become one of the foundations of his competitive development.

The road to the GAMMA Pan American Championship 2026 first went through the national tournament held in Villavicencio.
Cañón competed in the senior advanced division and fought three times.
He won his opening bout by TKO before submitting his next two opponents.
Those results earned him the national gold medal and secured his place at the Pan American Championship.
“For me, it means starting to take my career to another level. I felt it was time to begin testing myself internationally, and that gives me a great sense of satisfaction,” Cañón told Fajador.
Representing Colombia is the next major test
Zoé “El Joe” Cañón will represent Colombia in the flyweight division at 56.6 kilograms.
The Pan American Championship will give him an opportunity to test his development against international competition and begin gaining experience beyond the domestic circuit.
For Cañón, the competitive objective is clear.
“My goal is to use my aggression and experience to help bring Colombia to victory,” he told Fajador.
The young fighter is also already thinking about what could come after the continental championship.
“After the Pan American Championship, I will most likely be looking to compete at a World Championship and continue gaining experience,” Cañón explained.
For a career that began on a mat at the age of 14, the GAMMA Pan American Championship 2026 represents a new benchmark.
Now, Zoé “El Joe” Cañón will have the opportunity to measure the work built during his first six years in combat sports against some of the continent’s emerging talent.
