Isabela Sánchez Targets Trifecta in MMA
Mexican MMA star Monica Isabela Sánchez Chávez is set to defend her national full-contact title at the 2025 Juegos Nacionales Populares. As a two-time national champion from Pachuca, she enters the tournament as the fighter to beat. However, she views the challenge as fuel for her ambition rather than a source of stress. Isabela Sánchez Targets Trifecta in MMA.
“I don’t think of it as pressure—it’s a challenge,” Sánchez explained. “Being a two-time champion is motivating, and I believe we must prepare in the best way possible to reach the podium again.”
Because she already knows several of her rivals, Sánchez approaches the event with confidence. After all, she has defeated many of them before and plans to repeat that success inside the cage.
Riding a Winning Streak into 2025
So far, 2025 has brought Sánchez continued success. Earlier this year, she defended her Lima Lama championship belt, which boosted her morale and sharpened her competitive edge.
“I’ve been training consistently here in Pachuca,” she said. “It’s been a good semester, and as the year closes, I look forward to more opportunities to defend the championship and prove my abilities.”
With that mindset, she remains focused on preparation, confidence, and delivering results when it matters most.
Road to the Juegos Nacionales Populares
Sánchez shared her thoughts during the presentation of the state phase of the Juegos Nacionales Populares. This stage will feature boxing, mini soccer, and MMA.
On September 6, Ixmiquilpan will host the boxing matches. Meanwhile, Pachuca will stage mini soccer at the Revolución Mexicana complex and MMA at the Polideportivo. The finals will take place in Morelos, tentatively in November.
If Sánchez wins again, she will claim her third consecutive national MMA crown—solidifying her place among Mexico’s combat sports legends.
