ACAM Global Rise
The year 2025 marked a definitive turning point for the Cuban Association of Martial Arts (ACAM). Under the leadership of 10th Dan Nubia Bregado Gutiérrez, the organization consolidated its institutional power. Consequently, they successfully combined scientific research with competitive combat sports.
A Year of Competition
The calendar was ambitious and packed with action. For instance, a key highlight was the scientific-practical event at the University of Physical Culture and Sport. Here, Cuba faced Mexico in an intense Limalama Filwu showcase. Furthermore, Alejandro Arcas Baratuti opened doors to the International Amateur Federation in March. This was a vital step toward global integration.
Later in August, Camagüey hosted a bilateral Kickboxing meeting with Mexico. This event strengthened bonds far beyond the ring. Moreover, the National Children’s Gala included foreign participants, reaffirming ACAM’s commitment to the next generation.
Technical Mastery and Reach
The Council of Masters, led by Grand Master 10th Dan Antonio Michel Guerra Tressord, achieved a historic milestone. For the first time, they evaluated high-level martial artists from Europe and the Americas. As a result, Cuba positioned itself as a regional leader in certification.
October saw the peak of this international projection. The first World Championship of Tai Yoza Ryu, a Cuban-born martial art now present in 32 countries, took place. Additionally, the organization focused on social inclusion by incorporating activities for children with disabilities. Amidst this growth, Dr. C. Iosif Sánchez Nodarse was elected as first vice president, further strengthening the institution.
The Road to 2026
Looking ahead, ACAM has announced that all future activities will honor the centennial of Fidel Castro Ruz. The 2026 plan includes national tournaments in Jujitsu, Karate-Do, Sambo, and Laijutsu. These events will select the teams representing Cuba at the 1st ACAM World Cup in Havana.
Finally, Camagüey will host the Pan American Kickboxing Championship in May. The association also prioritizes the inclusion of women and international arbitration courses. By integrating tradition with modernity, ACAM is ready for sustained expansion.
