Gillian Robertson
Canadian UFC Fighter Gillian Robertson believes it’s time to fight for the strawweight belt. After defeating Amanda Lemos by unanimous decision in the UFC Vegas 114 co-main event, Robertson feels that a title fight is the only thing that makes sense right now.
Numbers Don’t Lie: ‘The Savage’ States Her Case
In the post-fight press conference, the Octagon veteran highlighted her current streak in the organization. ‘The Savage’ made her case by pointing out that she holds the record for the most wins and finishes among women in the UFC. For the experienced grappler, these numbers justify a chance to challenge for the strawweight belt against Mackenzie Dern in her next UFC bout.
“We want that title fight. It’s where I belong, and it’s my next step. Just to make it clear, I’m asking for that opportunity. I think it’s the only thing that makes sense right now. It’s five wins in a row.”
“I have the most wins among women, the most finishes, and the most submissions. So I believe I deserve that chance,” Robertson stated at the post-fight press conference.
Mackenzie Dern, who was crowned division champion after defeating Virna Jandiroba at UFC 321 in October of last year, currently does not have a fight scheduled. Her last bout in the Octagon was the night she captured the strawweight belt.
The American, who has Brazilian roots through her father, Megaton Dias, is still waiting for confirmation of her first title defense.
