Conor McGregor’s grand return
Conor McGregor’s grand return to the octagon is closer than ever. The Irishman, who was heavily rumored for the ‘UFC at the White House‘ card on June 14, is now being linked to an event in July. Talks between McGregor and the UFC reportedly ended on a positive note.
According to Ariel Helwani, the Irishman recently met with the UFC and the meeting went well, fueling expectations for a potential return during International Fight Week.
UFC 329
The event is expected to take place on July 11 as part of the UFC 329 card, with a strong possibility that he faces Max Holloway. The organization reportedly views the former champion’s return as a strategic move for that date.
“Conor’s recent meeting with the UFC was positive. Something very serious would have to happen for him not to fight on July 11th. They need him more than ever,” Helwani explained.
“I think Max Holloway’s comments over the weekend indicate something. Max is a very smart guy; it wouldn’t surprise me if he were trying to tell us something.
McGregor hopes to return to MMA’s most famous octagon this year. In his last fight, he lost to Dustin Poirier after suffering a tibia fracture in the main event of UFC 264.
The former featherweight and lightweight champion is currently in a difficult stretch, having won only one of his last four bouts in the organization. The current record for ‘The Notorious’ stands at 22-6.
