Mistico vs El Desperado
It is not every day you see two wrestling powerhouses share a ring quite like this. On November 16, New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) are joining forces for the first-ever Lucha Kingdom event. The Arena Mexico—the absolute cathedral of lucha libre—will host the crossover card. Tickets are already moving fast for what promises to be a historic night.
Champions Collide: A Mega Match is Set
The card already boasts an incredible dream match. El Desperado is stepping into the ring against his own tag team partner, Místico. The masked duo actually holds the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship right now. They grabbed the gold together at Wrestling Dontaku back in May 2026, but the ink was barely dry on their victory before things got intensely competitive between them.
The Road to the Arena Mexico Rematch
The tension started almost immediately. Right after winning the tag titles, El Desperado threw down the gauntlet. He challenged Místico to a singles match to settle who was really the top dog. That showdown went down at Dominion in June, ending with Desperado forcing Místico to tap out. Naturally, Místico did not take the submission loss lightly. He demanded a rematch, specifically asking for it to happen on his home turf. Management signed off, and the stage is now set.
Two Wrestling Icons Enter the Cathedral
Both guys bring serious history to this fight. El Desperado is a five-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion with deep roots in Mexico, having spent his early days competing in CMLL under the name Namajague. Místico, meanwhile, is practically royalty in the lucha libre world. He holds gold across CMLL, MLW, and ROH, remaining one of the biggest box-office draws in the sport’s history.
Who Will Claim Victory at Lucha Kingdom?
The stakes could not be higher for a partner-versus-partner brawl. The NJPW stars and CMLL super estrellas are gearing up to tear the house down. Desperado wants to prove his Dominion win was no fluke. Místico is out for revenge in front of his hometown crowd. Grab your tickets and see exactly how this rivalry unfolds on November 16.
