Worlds Collide 2026
WWE and Lucha Libre AAA join forces tonight for a massive crossover event. Taped recently in Chicago, Worlds Collide 2026 drops this Wednesday, September 30, at 7 p.m. ET on YouTube. While the show was clearly booked to siphon local crowds away from AEW All Out, both promotions moved tickets just fine. That means we get to skip the business tribalism and just judge the wrestling on its own merits.
A Stacked Match Card
Tonight’s lineup leans heavy into dream match territory. The main event features a wild six-man tag clash: CM Punk, Rey Mysterio, and El Grande Americano against Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh, and Omos. The rest of the card includes:
- Penta and Rey Fenix taking on Daga and Berto.
- Roxanne Perez challenging La Catalina for the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship.
- Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Lainey Reid squaring off with Flammer, La Hiedra, and Maravilla.
- A chaotic Cruiserweight Contender scramble featuring Axiom, Mini Vikingo, Je’Von Evans, and EK Prosper.
- Dragon Lee flying against Jack Cartwheel.
- A massive eight-person lucha tag match.
The Second City Hero
Seeing CM Punk walk out in Chicago never really gets old. He leaned hard into nostalgia here, wearing his old Straight Edge Society mask for the entrance. His tag work with Rey Mysterio easily anchored the night. When Oba Femi crashed the ring later to lay out Omos, it added a genuinely exciting wrinkle instead of just ending on a basic pinfall. Honestly, it is the smartest way they have used Punk since he came back.
High Spots and Booking Blunders
The in-ring action delivered, but a few booking choices left me scratching my head. Having Roxanne Perez lose her title shot to La Catalina felt like a missed opportunity for the NXT star. Worse, the long-awaited Lucha Bros reunion match ended in a messy disqualification after outside interference. Fans waited years for Penta and Fenix to tag again under this banner, and a DQ finish just feels cheap. Still, the card is packed with enough raw athleticism to make up for the weird finishes. I give it a 3.5 out of 5. Tune in for the lucha chaos, and stay for Punk’s homecoming.
