Nicaragua shines in Brazil with medals and pride
The Nicaraguan mixed martial arts delegation returned to the country on Monday, after a historic performance in an international GAMMA tournament held in Brazil. In total, the team won four gold, three silver and two bronze medals, leaving the name of Nicaragua on high. Nicaragua shines in Brazil with medals and pride!
Emotional welcome at Managua airport
Upon arrival at the Managua International Airport, the athletes were received with applause, hugs and flags. In addition, the presidential delegate Maurice Ortega Murillo led the official welcome and highlighted the commitment of each competitor.
“A historic moment for Nicaraguan sport”.
During a ceremony in the diplomatic hall, Ortega Murillo stated:
“We feel proud from the Presidency. These young people gave their all, showing love for Nicaragua and raising our flag in Brazil.”
For this reason, family members, media and authorities celebrated a sporting feat that is already part of national history.
Ana Cruz shines as the great figure
Undoubtedly, the star of the tournament was Ana Cruz, who won two gold medals. With this result, she consolidates herself as one of the great promises of Nicaraguan sport.
Likewise, Stacy Mendieta and Axel Pérez also won gold, while Enoc Escoto and Cristofer Reyes obtained silver medals.
Bayron Jiménez and Dayana Rodríguez won bronze, completing an outstanding participation for Nicaragua.
Beyond medals: a symbol of national unity
The event was attended by representatives of the Alexis Argüello Sports Movement, sports director Noel González, and deputy mayor Enrique Armas Rosales.
Finally, the athletes thanked the Sandinista Government for its support. They all agreed that these medals are not only individual achievements, but symbols of national pride.
