HUMI celebrates 15 years with Jesús Aguilar
Tae Kwon Do Academy HUMI celebrated its 15th anniversary with an emotional event entitled Sunday Funday, held at the Coral Hotel and Marina in Ensenada, Baja California. The celebration brought together families, athletes and martial arts enthusiasts, who participated in a special Master Class led by Jesus Aguilar, Ensenada UFC fighter. HUMI celebrates 15 years with Jesus Aguilar.
An anniversary with deep meaning
Paulina Noriega, founder and director of HUMI, shared the personal meaning of the celebration.
“We’re not just celebrating 15 years of a school, we’re celebrating a dream that started when I was 15 years old,” he explained. “We always bring Olympic champions, but this time I wanted something different, closer: Jesus Aguilar, the first ensenadense with a contract in the UFC.”
Jesús Aguilar: Discipline beyond the Cage
During the class, Aguilar focused on breaking down stigmas about mixed martial arts. Instead of focusing on fighting, he promoted self-defense and emotional growth.
“Martial arts saved my life, and I like to share that,” he commented. “We showed basic techniques, I talked about my fights and, above all, we explained that MMA is not violence. It’s discipline, respect and overcoming.”
In addition, children, youth and adults participated with enthusiasm, demonstrating that the event was able to connect with the entire community.
HUMI: a bridge between cultures
The name of the academy, HUMI – which means Ensenada in Korean – represents a local dream with an international vision.
“I wanted this anniversary to be like fifteen years ago: unforgettable, beautiful and in front of the sea,” Noriega concluded.
A legacy that transforms lives
With this event, HUMI not only celebrated an anniversary. It reaffirmed its social commitment and demonstrated how sport is a powerful tool to transform lives.
