UFC 330
MMA said goodbye to one of the greats on Saturday night. At 40 years old, Edson Barboza announced his retirement following UFC 330, an event held in Philadelphia.
While it is true that the Brazilian was knocked out by Esteban Ribovics in the second round, Dana White, for his part, indicated that a four-fight losing streak does not tarnish the explosive striker’s legacy.
In the press conference following UFC 330, the UFC president showed respect and praised Edson, who moved the fans after saying goodbye in the Octagon.
Dana’s recognition is well-deserved, because the Brazilian spent 16 years in the organization, and during that time, he faced the best in the lightweight division, took part in true battles, and delivered impressive knockouts.
“He’s an incredible guy and was in a lot of battles. Yeah, we like him a lot. I don’t know what else you want me to say, other than he’s an absolute savage. It was fantastic having him fight in the UFC. We respect him a lot and hold him in high regard,” Dana said.
Edson Barboza, 40 years old, is a striking specialist and took part in true wars inside the Octagon. The Brazilian began his career in 2009, debuted in the UFC in 2010, and retired in 2026.
In the sport, he compiled a 24-15 record with 14 wins by KO/TKO and 1 win by submission. His most notable victories were against Anthony Pettis, Beneil Dariush, Bobby Green, and Dan Hooker, among others.
